Political Stupid

These are just a few thoughts that have been rolling around in my head for a while, and I thought I’d let it drift into my blog. Logically, I can’t see any way around these ideas.\

The first few things are politically motivated. By saying that, I mean I am motivated due to the politics behind them, and the retarded commercials I’ve been seeing that try to defend them. This is clearly seen in the attack ads against Elisabeth Dole, being run here in North Carolina. Let’s go through the completely stupid things that the people in the commercial are complaining about.

Elizabeth Dole voted with President Bush 92% of the time. Well, let me see if I can see any type of link between the two of them. Bush is a republican. Dole is a republican. Nope, no link there. I wonder why they might have voted on a similar ticket.

She was against raising minimum wage. I’m against it as well. Do you know what happens when you raise the minimum wage? People lose their jobs. Sure, a bunch of asshole high school kids and college drop outs get to make $7.00 an hour to make my french fries at McDonalds, but smaller businesses that are struggling to compete with bigger chains vanish due to the higher cost of payroll. I used to work in a video store that has had to cut back to being open only 4 days a week instead of 7 due to the minimum wage increase. Soon, it won’t be there any more either. Larger stores suffer from the same thing as well. Office Depot may be a large corporation with a massive amount of money behind it, but the stores themselves still have to pay for themselves. Believe me, I work in one and I see it.

She’s against higher taxes for big businesses. Alright, so let’s say you own a business. The government decides that you need to pay more in taxes. So now you have to make up the cost of those taxes somewhere.  How could you do that? I know! Raise your prices. Surely that will get your revenue back. They seem to think that just because you raise their taxes that they will lower their prices. Reality doesn’t work that way people. If you have to pay more for your bills you hope for a raise don’t you? You don’t leave your job for a lesser paying one. It would make absolutely no sense to believe a business, be it Oil, Walmart, or Winn Dixie, is going to lower their prices when their own cost of running the business is now higher.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that I’m really sick of hearing about how all of these candidates want to change Washington. All I hear is how it needs to be changed, how they need to be knocked around and shaken up. Sure, but how? What do you want different? I hear a lot of talk, and yet no action. These ignorant senators want me to believe that I have the power to change what they themselves have been a member of for several years, and have done nothing about. I heard John McCain was quoted as saying that the Katrina debacle wouldn’t have happened on his watch. Guess what Johnny, it was on your watch. You were part of the government that so many people complained about during all of that. And don’t think that I’m on the Katrina bandwagon either. It’s a hurricane. You know it’s coming. Get the hell out of the way. Tornados are fast, hurricanes are not.

Also, I don’t want to hear anyone talk about needing to dump more and more money into schools until they do something about the immigration problems that are helping to overcrowd the schools to begin with. This site seems to have some numbers that may or may not be accurate. Being that it’s purely guess work anyway, it may be slightly off in one direction or the other. But let’s assume they are half right, just to make the assholes who think illegal aliens should be called “undocumented citizens” (which like my dad said, is like calling a drug dealer an undocumented pharmacist). I’m going to only pay attention to money since, as everyone knows and some still refuse to admit, is actually what runs the world. If there are 2 million children of illegal immigrants who exist in our school systems, and it’s costing $7 billion dollars to deal with them, don’t try to blame anyone else for the rising cost in public education. Honestly, you have to be pretty fucking stupid to not want to take that into account. If someone BREAKS THE LAW and is here ILLEGALLY than they should be treated as such. If I shoot someone in the face, you wouldn’t just let me go would you? No, and you shouldn’t let people who are going to blatanly break our laws, reguardless of the crap in their own country. If you don’t like your own country, fix it…or bitch about it like it, just like George Clooney.

And one last thing. Anyone who supported Hiliary Clinton, besides being brain dead, must be insane to want to follow her recommendation to support Obama. Isn’t he the same guy she didn’t believe should be President, and now she is all for him taking over the White House? And when did Obama becoming black? Does his mother just not count at all? You can’t simply push one out in favor of another due to looks.

But that’s just something that’s been running around in my head lately.

Heavy D

Not the rapper, the track. Actually, I left off the D part simply because I thought it would be stupid to actually call it “Heavy D”, despite my name being Dave.  Heavy D was awesome. Diddly Diddly Diddly D!

Anyway, I uploaded one of the first tracks from 1, which is available off of MySpace and off of Soundclick. It’s a free download, and able to be added to myspace pages as well. I recommend playing it off of here in the Soundclick player, or visiting the site to play and download it. It will start climbing the soundclick charts and recieve more listeners. This is always good.

A snippet of my latest political adventure is also available on Myspace, but it’s yet to be completed…thus, a snippet. I decided to post the most important part of the song, but we’re still not completely finished with it. We have more recording to do, and a little more planning for how something else on it is going to work. It will likely end up as a free download as well, considering the nature of the song and the nations current events.

Santa Claus makes children fat

On my blog, you’re likely to see me complain about various things which may or may not have anything to do with my music. This, is one of those things.

I just watched a video on Yahoo! that showed that experts (because there is an expert for everything) are worried that Santa Claus is “sending the wrong body message to children”. So now Santa is making children fat. I know when I was a kid and I thought of Santa, the first thing to my mind wasn’t that I was hoping he would bring me a Nintendo with Duck Hunt (shut your faces, Nintendo was the stuff back then), it was that I could someone gain two hundred additional pounds and be just like him. Are these people fucking stupid?! Do they actually think that Santa Claus is such an influence on children, that they are going to gain weight, or be reluctant to lose any because he happens to be Rosie O’Donnell sized? Are they going to be afraid that these kids are going to wander around neighborhoods, breaking into houses through chimney’s as well, simply because an overweight elf does it?

And how does one become an expert in these things, I would like to know.

Is it possible, that because you make a claim that you can explain (not logically, mind you…we’ll have no room for logic in these types of claims), that you are suddenly an expert? If that’s the case, I’m an expert in how Paris Hilton is actually a piece of dog shit, with arms and legs. I can explain it, and probably have a better argument than Santa making kids fat. Does that make me an expert in the link between Paris Hilton and canine fecal matter? If I write out a large essay on why Michael Bay is a horrible director, is that going to give me expert status on his in ability to create believable movies? Probably not. So how the hell does anyone become an expert in stupid theories that don’t have any sense of reality in them? Can I have an expert in that please explain it to me?

Out of the Darkness

I guess it was inevitable that I would write a track that struck back and let out the anger. The song is available online via Soundclick.

Lo-Fi Version or the Hi-Fi Version

Or Download it.

So let’s begin.

I’m still here. Yes, unfortunetly for Paris Hilton fans, I’m still around. Where have I been? Busy, basically. For one, in June of last year I met a girl at a new job I took and somehow convinced her that I was worth dating. You’ll hear about her in the song Andrea’s Track. It’s currently available on MySpace and Soundclick. I wrote that for her just before we got together, so all the emotions in it are real (as they always are). The audio clips at the beginning and end are from video clips I had taken of her before she realized my camera did video clips.

In July of this year, I moved and took a new job. I also got married that same month to Andrea. We are very happy, and because of work, the move, and trying to get ready for our new baby coming in January, I haven’t had any time to work on music. I’ve actually put it on a shelf for a while now, ever since the end of the Era of Pain and Age of the Sage.

But I’m writing again.

Currently, I’m in the process of working on a new album codenamed “1″. I say codenamed because as Erik (Cicada) has seen many times in the past, I rarely stick to my original album titles. Mind of God never came out, but rather morphed titles twice. The same for The Unforgiven (hence why you hear Erik on Iconoclast say “Mimic. The Juggernaut. The Unforgiven.”). So, we are just calling it that for now. As of yet, there is no sure number of songs, or even a list of what is on it. I am planning on including some other artists on some of the tracks, including K.P. (my cousin/the guy who spams my Soundclick so much) on a couple tracks, such as The Reaping and Spartans. Our collabs are so long overdue it’s not even funny. And if you want to hear how horribly crap I used to be back when we started, just visit his music page. He has me randomly placed through out it. You can tell my voice apart from the other Dave on his page.

Anyway, this will continue in a moment. I shall return after a few words from our sponsor, Viagra. I hear some of these emcees are using it to be artifically hard.
